a weathered love

a poem on tenderness, sacred connection, and the kind of love that doesn't flinch when life gets hard

i want a weathered love

a soul embrace
during life’s trials
the endless evolution of two beings

the expression of humility
as we constantly reintroduce
our selves to each other

where we don’t condemn
or ask prideful questions

but invite each other to emerge whole

a love that pierces and heals
and is patient and slow

being tender and gentle
without letting the heart cry all alone

sharing thoughts, ideas, frustrations
a space where we are intimately known

being a fire to each other’s heart
not letting it know a shiver
or become frozen and bitter

where we share laughter and cries
in our conversations
a joke here and there

and diving into the depths of the soul
feasting on revelation from heaven

a love that holds on
during the roller coaster ride of life
and doesn’t turn a blind eye or think twice

and though we journey through a valley
we discover that we were closer
to the summit after all

i want a weathered love
